Tell me more about this project.

The premise of the Artful Exchange Project is a simple one. With some guidance from an Exchangee, I am creating individualized site-specific art pieces that are performed or revealed live over video chat apps such as Google Duo, Skype, FaceTime or Zoom.

The art pieces are both created and performed solely for the Exchangee, the "audience of one." Each piece is designed using information directly from the Exchangee; I am creating something personalized with each individual in mind every time.

These pieces are referred to as 'exchanges' because a piece cannot be created without the Exchangee giving something of themselves. You are not merely a passive observer, but an active collaborator in the creative process.

How does it work?

If you become an Exchangee, I will send you a form to fill out, answering some basic inquiries for me to begin my exploration. A few examples:

-Choose a location that is significant to you

-Choose an artistic medium:

     -creation of an object/artwork

     -movement piece

     -create/find and recite a text-based piece

     -we simply have a conversation

     -something entirely new

-Inquiry about scheduling

-A question or two to find out more about you

Once that information is received, I will get to work crafting our exchange and scheduling the date and time. The performance will take place in the location specified by the Exchangee (you) over whatever video chat app suits you best.

What else do I need to know?

-FundraisingThis project is raising funds for COVID-19 Arts Aid PHL, providing assistance to Philadelphia-based artists and organizations whose livelihoods are threatened by the pandemic. Exchangees are asked to make a donation if they can. There are several links to donate directly on this site or I will provide my information at the end of our exchange if you'd like to make a donation through my project.

**If you are not in a position to make a donation but still want to participate, you are more than                          welcome!

-LocationsCurrently I am only able to perform exchanges in the Philadelphia area, but you can be anywhere in the world. Also, because of the pandemic, I am not able to go inside most locations.

**Want to participate but not familiar with Philly? Shoot me an email and we can find a location together.

-AccessibilityYou must have access to a video chat app for our exchange. These include Zoom, FaceTime, Google Duo, and Skype. If you have a different app than those I've listed, let me know.

-Scheduling: Submissions are handled on a first come, first serve basis. I currently have the capacity to perform around 5 exchanges/week. Because most of these pieces are performed outdoors there might need to be some flexibility for inclement weather.

-Length: Pieces generally last between 5-15 minutes, depending on the medium. They are designed to be shorter to accommodate schedules and to preserve integrity in the exchanges.

-Sharing Exchanges: Agreeing to an exchange does not automatically mean the footage of the exchange will be shared. It will be recorded for documentation purposes but the decision to share it is yours. These pieces are personal; it can be left as something just between us if you don't want the world to know.

**I also have the ability to edit exchange videos at the discretion of myself and the Exchangee, though I              try to keep as much of the original exchange intact as possible for the purpose of documentation.
